Area 2 - Europe -UK, Continental Europe, Mediterranean islands, The Channel Islands, the Isle of Man, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Israel, Turkey, Madeira, Canary Islands, the Azores, The Republic of Ireland, Iceland, Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia.

Area 3 - Worldwide excluding USA -Worldwide excluding United States of America, Canada and all Islands in the Caribbean sea including the Bahamas

If you have to cancel or cut short your trip due to illness, injury, redundancy, jury service, the police requiring you to remain at or return to your home due to serious damage to your home, you are covered against loss of pre paid travel and accommodation costs.  This section includes being diagnosed with an epidemic or pandemic disease such as COVID-19.

You or a travelling companion being held in quarantine by order or other requirement of a government or public authority, based on their suspicion that you or a travelling companion, specifically, have been exposed to a contagious disease (including an epidemic or a pandemic disease such as COVID-19).

A cash sum for accidental injury resulting in death, loss of sight, loss of limb or permanent total disablement.

No Policy Excess.

MEDICAL & OTHER EXPENSES up to £5,000,000


(a) The cost of hospital and other emergency medical expenses incurred abroad, including additional accommodation and repatriation expenses. Cover includes being diagnosed with an epidemic or pandemic disease such as COVID-19 as well as being subject to compulsory quarantine on the orders of a treating doctor).  Limit £350 for emergency dental treatment and £1,500 burial/cremation/transfer of remains.

(b) INPATIENT BENEFIT up to £500 - An additional benefit of £20 per day for each day you spend in hospital abroad as an in-patient.

Covers accidental loss, theft or damage to your personal luggage subject to a limit of £300 for any one article, pair or set and an overall limit of £400 for valuables such as cameras. jewellery, furs, etc. Delayed luggage up to £150.

Money, travel tickets and travellers cheques are covered up to £500 against accidental loss or theft (cash limit £250).

If you lose your passport or it is stolen whilst abroad you are covered for additional transport, accommodation and administration costs incurred in obtaining a replacement.

If your outward or return trip is delayed for more than 12 hours at the final departure point to/from UK due to adverse weather conditions, mechanical breakdown or industrial action, you are entitled to either - (a) £20 for the first 12 hours and £10 for each further 12 hours delay up to a maximum of £250, or (b) the cost of the trip (up to £2,500) if you elect to cancel after 12 hours delay on the outward trip from the UK.

Additional accommodation and transport costs which you have to pay to get to your journey destination or back home as a result of you not arriving at your departure point on time due to public transport not running to its published timetable or the vehicle in which you were travelling was in an accident or breaks down.

No Policy Excess.

PERSONAL LIABILITY up to £2,000,000

Covers your legal liability for injury or damage to other people or their property, including legal expenses (subject to the laws of England and Wales).

LEGAL EXPENSES up to £25,000

To enable you to pursue your rights against a third party following injury.

The following represents only the main exclusions. The policy document sets out all of the conditions and exclusions. A copy of the full policy wording is available on request in writing prior to application.


Insurers will not pay for claims arising

  • Where you are waiting for an operation, hospital consultant (other than for regular checkups for a stable condition) or other hospital treatment or investigations, or are awaiting the results of any tests or investigations.
  • Where you have received a terminal prognosis
  • Where you know you will need treatment or consultation at any medical facility during your journey or where you are travelling specifically for the purpose of obtaining and/or receiving any elective surgery, procedure or hospital treatment.
  • If You are travelling against the advice of a Medical Practitioner.


Claims arising from

  • War, invasion, act of foreign enemy, hostilities (whether war is declared or not), civil war, civil commotion, rebellion, revolution, insurrection, military force, coup d’etat, terrorism (this does not apply to claims made under Emergency medical and associated expenses – Section 2 and Personal Accident – Section 7), or weapons of mass destruction.
  • Any epidemic or pandemic.
  • You not following any advice or recommendation made by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, World Health Organisation or any government or other official authority. This includes where certain vaccinations or other preventative measures (such as malaria tablets) where recommended.
  • The effect of alcohol, solvent or drug dependency or long term abuse.
  • You being under the influence of alcohol, or solvents or drugs, or doing anything as a result of using these substances (except drugs prescribed by a doctor but not for the treatment of drug addiction).


The amount of each claim for which insurers will not pay and for which you are responsible. The excess as noted in the policy summary applies to each and every claim per insured person under each section where an excess applies.


This insurance contains Health Conditions so you should inform us of any medical conditions that may affect the Insurers acceptance of your cover.  Please therefore telephone our Medical Screening Team on the following number if you answer YES to any of the following questions:

  1. Do you have MORE THAN ONE of the following conditions?
    • Asthma (well controlled and not requiring supplementary oxygen);
    • Benign Lumps;
    • Cataracts;
    • Diabetes (well controlled and no associated conditions)
    • Gall Stones/ Gall Bladder removal;
    • Gout;
    • Under active/ over active thyroid.
  2. Within the last 2 years, have you been treated as a hospital inpatient or been referred to a specialist consultant?
  3. Have you ever been treated for:
    • A breathing condition (other than asthma as above), or;
    • A heart related condition (including angina); or
    • A circulatory condition including deep vein thrombosis or high blood pressure/ hypertension?
  4. Have you been diagnosed with cancer within the last 5 years?

PLEASE NOTE : These questions do not apply if your journey is within the UK.  Failure to notify them may cause your circumstances to fall within a policy exclusion.

Additionally, if you have an annual multi-trip policy: You must call the Medical Screening Line (if you are travelling outside your home country and, at any time:

  1. i) you develop a new medical condition after your policy was issued;
  2. ii) your medical condition changes after your policy was issued.

If there is a change in health of anyone insured under this policy after you have purchased it or at the time of renewing this insurance or booked a journey but before you travel or book a further journey, you must contact our Medical Screening Line on 02392 419 897, as soon as possible. We will tell you if your change in health will affect your insurance and if cover can continue for further journeys you wish to book. If you are not sure whether something is relevant you must tell us anyway.
